Owen's First Birthday

Owen turned one last week!

We enlisted Aimee's sister, Jill, to use her artistic skills to decorate the cake (using the leftover frosting from our garden cupcakes - see the post below).

Luke blew out the candle. The poor kid has watched a lot of birthdays go by: Dallins, Aimee's, and Owen's. He wonders a lot when his own birthday is. We're hoping that now that all the rest of our birthdays are done he won't worry about it quite so much.

Growing up, Aimee's dad always chastised her and her sisters for putting their legs up at the table (not on top, but just resting their feet on top of their chairs so their knees stuck up). She thinks it's funny that both Luke and Owen have done this in the high chair.

We had another celebration at Dallin's parent's house. Amazingly, this is a picture taken by Luke. He actually got it pretty straight and almost everyone in the frame.

Aimee's Birthday

Aimee asked for angel food cake with whipped cream and strawberries, and Dallin delivered! This is Joseph, our neighbor, with Luke.

The last few weeks, every time we take out the camera, we have to be sure to give it to Luke for a little while to take his own pictures. He only points it away from himself about half of the time, so the rest of the time they are fuzzy pictures of his stomach or face. One day he had it outside at Dallin's parents house, and he was telling everyone and everything to smile: the dog, the grass, the baseball bat, etc.

Aunt Jill's knees - another of Luke's masterpieces.

Dallin being silly. He loves to make Luke laugh, and Luke cracks up at his silliness. "Silly daddy" is a favorite phrase around our house. One of thier favorite "games" is to decide what we're going to eat for lunch. They throw out the obvious no's first - frogs, grass, worms, leaves, etc., then move on to realistic options.

Jill's birthday present to Aimee was a cupcake decorating book. That week Aimee's mom and youngest sister, Lettie, came to visit and went to our ward's Relief Society Birthday Dinner. This is the cake that we all made together (Aimee, Jill, Lettie, and Mom). The dirt is Oreo cookie crumbs, and the vegetables are various assortments of candies shaped - starburts, airheads, M&Ms, green chocolate covered cornflakes, etc. It was so much fun!
