First Haircut, Etc.

Luke likes to play Peek-A-Boo a lot. He does it himself sometimes, except sometimes he misses his eyes and hits his cheecks or even as far as his ears. He also does it really fast and kind of hard, so it looks more like he's slapping himself than playing. We tried to catch it on film, but haven't been successful yet.
This is Dallin and Luke playing around with the camera. Usually when we pull the camera out Luke stops whatever he is doing and stares blankly at it, so we are having to learn how to take pictures a little more covertly so they are more candid and less staged.

This is the result of us trying to take pictures of Luke when he is really tired. Except instead of tired he looks drunk. This is a great one for the scrapbook, we think.

We discovered that we can be supportive of our alma mater, be matching, and have (albeit not particularly creative) costumes all at the same time. We took these after our ward Chili Cookoff/Trunk or Treat this weekend.

Luke's first haircut! Well, his full haircut. We've trimmed around the edges a little, but last week we pulled out the clippers and went all the way, as he was starting to look pretty shaggy. He was distracted by Aimee's hair accessories (ribbons and elastic ties). It took both of us and he made a big mess but there were no accidents or major problems.

Fall Break

It's always fun for us to show off Luke's scar, and the bathtub is one of the best places to do that. Luke loves taking baths, but Aimee doesn't always love it quite as much because he splashes so much that sometimes there's a bit of a mess to clean up.

This is the first time that we had Luke slide down the slide all by himself. Although this particular picture doesn't show it very well, he actually liked it a lot.

He's a little happier in this one.

Dallin had a fall break in school; a whole week without classes. We decided to take a little vacation. We went to Topeka, Kansas, to visit our friends Scott and Karolyn. They took us to a park right next to the Topeka zoo where there were tons of animals statues, and we went a little crazy taking pictures there.

This is Luke with Scott and Karolyn's son, Skyler. He is about 6 months younger than Luke, but as you can see almost the same size. Although it looks like they are sharing the ball, it's more likely that Luke is taking it away from Sklyer, as that's what he did all weekend.

In Topeka is the "Brown vs. Board of Education National Historic Site," which we visited. It's the original schoolhouse. It was very fascinating to walk through the displays and learn about the 5 cases that were combined and ended up at the Supreme Court. We highly recommend the site to anyone in the area.

After Topeka we drove up to Omaha, Nebraska, to visit Dallin's sister. We thought Luke was asleep the whole time, until we got there and discovered that he was entertaining himself very quietly with the loaf of bread in our food box. I guess he was hungrier than we thought.

Luke and his cousin Emily played on the trampoline for a little while.

Luke loves ledges and balls, and when you put them together he can have a blast for hours (well, we wish it would entertain him for that long, but he does do it for 15 or 20 minutes at a time). He is starting to cruise along ledges and couches, and he loves to bounce the ball on the ledge and then chase it.
